What does a label such as “non-engaging” tell you? Look for the person's explanation and the circumstances around their contact with services.

The practice
Read beyond the fluent answer.
When reviewing an AI-supported draft, examine how the person is represented. Check which accounts support the description, what has been left out and where an interpretation has become a statement of fact.
Look at the evidence.
Which statements come from direct observation, the person's account or another source? Identify assumptions that need to be checked.
Look at the context.
Consider access barriers, discrimination and the power held by services. Ask how another account might change your interpretation.
A practice exercise
Make the questions explicit.
Use a fictional scenario to practise reviewing an AI draft. The prompt below is an illustrative teaching example, not a tested guarantee of what a model will produce.
Review this draft against the supplied source notes. Identify language that makes assumptions about the person. Separate recorded information from interpretation. Note whose account is missing and what you would need to check. Do not invent an explanation for missing information.
Then review the AI's response yourself. Compare it with the original notes, consider another interpretation and explain which changes you would make and why.
